WEST DES MOINES, Iowa, June 3 (UPI) -- Gil Morgan posted a 7-under 64 Saturday to take a one-stroke lead through two rounds of the seniors Allianz Championship in West Des Moines, Iowa.

Morgan, at 12-under 130, set a 36-hole record for the tournament. John Bland set the previous mark of 131 in the 2002 tournament.

Morgan held the lead with one round to go last week at the Senior PGA Championship, but finished third, two shots out of the playoff won by Jay Haas.

Loren Roberts, a three-time winner this season on the elder circuit, shot a 6-under 65 and is in second place at 11-under 131. Hajime Meshiai (64) and Kirk Hanefeld (65) are tied for third at 10-under 132.

Morgan began Saturday's second round two shots off the lead, but opened his round by sinking a pair of four-foot birdie putts.

If Morgan wins Sunday, he will earn his 24th victory on the Champions Tour.
