NHL: Carolina 4, Buffalo 3 (OT)

RALEIGH, N.C., May 28 (UPI) -- Cory Stillman scored a power-play goal 8:46 into overtime Sunday night to give Carolina a 4-3 win over Buffalo.

The victory came in Game Five of the NHL's Eastern Conference finals.

The Hurricanes, who lead, three games to two, pulled within one victory of playing Edmonton for the Stanley Cup.

Justin Williams, Mark Recchi, and Justin Williams all scored once in regulation, Matt Cullen had two assists, one on the game-winning goal; while Martin Gerber and Cam Ward combined to make 23 saves on the 26 shots they faced for the winners.

Chris Drury, Derek Roy, and Toni Lydman scored goals; Roy also had one assist; and Ryan Miller made 22 saves for the Sabres.

Game Six is Tuesday night at Buffalo.
