MLB: San Diego 7, St. Louis 1

SAN DIEGO, May 27 (UPI) -- The San Diego Padres had a four-run second inning and Clay Hensley pitched eight solid innings Friday night to help down the visiting St. Louis Cardinals 7-1.

Dave Roberts, Adrian Gonzalez and Mike Piazza each hit home runs for the Padres. Mike Cameron's two-run single highlighted the second inning.

Hensley (3-3), who made his 14th appearance and eighth start of the 2006 season, allowed one run on five hits with five strikeouts and one walk.

For the Cardinals, David Eckstein finished 2-for-4 with a run scored. Right-hander Jeff Suppan (5-4) allowed seven runs on nine hits with three strikeouts and two walks in six innings.

St. Louis managed their only run in the third inning when Eckstein singled and Albert Pujols singled him home two batters later.
