NEW ORLEANS, May 24 (UPI) -- Because of a ruptured tendon in his right knee, linebacker James Allen of New Orleans will miss the 2006 NFL season.
He suffered the injury in training Tuesday during a non-contact drill and since has undergone surgery.

The former Oregon State product, who was a third round draft pick by the Saints in 2002, also was plagued by knee problems in 2005, which limited him to just three games.
In his career, the 6-foot-2 inch, 245-pounder has 94 tackles, one interception and forced two fumbles in 48 games.
In his best season in 2004, he had two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.
