NHL: Buffalo 4, Carolina 3

BUFFALO, N.Y., May 24 (UPI) -- Daniel Briere scored two goals Wednesday night as Buffalo beat Carolina, 4-3, in Game Three of NHL's Eastern Conference finals.

The other goals were scored by Ales Kotalik and Chris Drury. Kotalik also had one assist. J.P. Dumont had two assists; and goalie Ryan Miller made 24 saves for the Sabres, who took a two games to one lead in the best-of-seven game series.

Cory Stillman scored twice; Aaron Ward, Justin Williams, Doug Weight, and Frantisek Kaberle had assists; while goalies Cam Ward and Martin Gerber combined to make 29 saves for the Hurricanes.

In all, Buffalo has played eight straight one-goal games, winning six times.

The Sabres will host Game Four on Friday night.
