CHARLOTTE, N.C., May 20 (UPI) -- Jia Perkins made three foul shots with one second left Saturday to lift the expansion Chicago Sky to an 83-82 victory over the Charlotte Sting.
Candice Dupree scored 19 points for Chicago, which gave up 18 straight points late in the fourth quarter and trailed 82-80 following LaToya Bond's three-pointer with 3.5 seconds left. However, Bond fouled Perkins on a three-point try, and Perkins -- who was 1-of-10 from the field -- made all three free throws.
Chelsea Newton and Stacey Lovelace-Tolbert each scored 12 points for the Sky, while Sherri Sam scored 17 to lead the Sting.
