Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

CARSON, Calif., May 21 (UPI) -- Jacob Peterson scored the game's only goal Saturday as the Colorado Rapids beat the Los Angeles Galaxy, 1-0.
The Galaxy got off 17 shots, but failed to score in their fourth straight shutout loss. Los Angeles has been struggling without two of its most important players -- Landon Donovan and Chris Albright, who are in North Carolina training with the U.S. Men's National Team for the 2006 World Cup.
The Galaxy are also playing without Cornell Glen, who is with the Trinidad and Tobago national team for the World Cup.
