Pampling shoots 63, leads Colonial

FORT WORTH, Texas, May 19 (UPI) -- Australian Rod Pampling shot a 7-under 63 Friday to take the lead midway through the PGA's Colonial Golf Tournament at Fort Worth, Texas.

Pampling had eight birdies and just one bogey. He finished the second round at 10-under 130, one stroke ahead of Stephen Ames (66), Charley Hoffman (66) and Stewart Cink (67).

Tim Herron (65), Dean Wilson (65) and Peter Lonard (66) are tied for fifth place at 8-under 132.

Fredrik Jacobson fired a bogey-free, 8-under 62 to surge from a tie for 67th place into a tie for eighth at 7-under. Jacobson -- who narrowly missed the course record of 61, held by six different players -- shares eighth place with Jim Furyk (67), Arron Oberholser (68), Richard S. Johnson (65) and Henrik Bjornstad (64).
