Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y., May 18 (UPI) -- Natalie Gulbis, Beth Bauer and 2003 champion Hee-Won Han shot 3-under 68 Thursday, and lead after one round of the LPGA Sybase Classic at New Rochelle, N.Y.
Hee is a four-time winner on the LPGA Tour. Bauer has one title and Gulbis is looking for her first win.
Nancy Scranton shot 2-under-par 69 along with Kim Saiki, Teresa Lu and Allison Hanna. Young Yoo" class="tpstyle">Sun Young Yoo is 2-under through 17 holes.
Women's world No. 1 Annika Sorenstam and defending champion Paula Creamer share 24th place at 1-over 72.
The first round was delayed for 83 minutes by heavy rains. Fifteen players were on the course when the round was halted.
