Davydenko advances, Blake loses at Hamburg

HAMBURG, Germany, May 18 (UPI) -- Nikolay Davydenko was a winner and James Blake lost Thursday in the third round of the Hamburg Masters Tennis Tournament in Germany.

The 4th-seeded Davydenko of Russia beat No. 13 Jarkko Nieminen of Finland, 6-1, 6-3. Blake, the 5th seed, was beaten by No. 12 Mario Ancic of Croatia, 4-6, 7-5, 7-6 (7-3), while unseeded Fernando Verdasco of Spain topped No. 7 Fernando Gonzalez of Chile, 3-6, 6-2, 6-3.

Other winners were No. 8 Tommy Robredo of Spain; No. 15 Radek Stepanek of the Czech Republic; No. 16 David Ferrer of Spain; and non-seeds Jose Acasuso of Argentina and Max Mirnyi of Belarus.
