PRAGUE, Czech Republic, May 12 (UPI) -- Fourth-seeded Emilie Loit of France and No. 5 Samantha Stosur of Australia Thursday advanced to the third round of the Prague Open tennis tournament.
Loit beat Karolina Sprem of Croatia, 6-4, 6-3; and Stosur was a 6-1, 6-2 winner over Akiko Morigami of Japan.
Other winners Thursday on the red clay were No. 7 Shuai Peng of China, who topped Michaela Pastikova of the Czech Republis, 6-2, 6-4; and wild card Magdalena Rybarikova of Slovakia, who beat Milagros Sequera of Venezuela, 7-6 (7-3), 6-0.
Thursday's winners joined third-seeded Shahar Peer of Israel; No. 8 Alona Bondarenko of the Ukraine, No. 6 seed Maria Elena Camerin of Italy; and unseeded Kaia Kanepi of Estonia.
In Friday's quarterfinals, Peer meets Bondarenko; Camerin faces Kanepi; and Loit meets Stosur.
