Peer, Camerin move on at Prague

PRAGUE, Czech Republic, May 10 (UPI) -- No. 3 Shahar Peer of Israel and sixth-seeded Maria Elena Camerin of Italy Wednesday led the winners in Round Two of the Prague Open tennis tournament.

Peer topped crowd favorite Zuzana Ondraskova of the Czech Republic, 7-6 (8-6), 0-6, 6-3; and Camerin beat Meghann Shaughnessy of the United States, 7-5, 6-4.

Elsewhere, No. 8 Alona Bondarenko of the Ukraine beat Hungary's Melinda Czink 2-6, 6-0, 6-2; Kaia Kanepi of Estonia was a 7-5, 1-6, 7-6 (10-8) winner against France's Stephanie Foretz; and Japan's Akiko Morigami topped wild card Barbora Strycova of the Czech Republic, 6-3, 6-1.

Among Thursday's quarterfinals will be Kanepi against Camerin and Peer will play Bondarenko.

The event's eventual champion will claim 22,900.
