In just his third start of the season, winner C.C. Sabathia (2-0) scattered seven hits in eight scoreless innings. He had no walks and four strikeouts.
Despite giving up two hits in a shaky ninth inning, closer Bob Wickman earned his sixth save of the season -- and his 130th in a Cleveland uniform, breaking the franchise mark of 129 set by Doug Jones.
Both Ichiro Suzuki and Carl Everett had two hits for the Mariners (13-20), who have lost five of their last six contests.
Losing pitcher Jarrod Washburn (2-5) gave up two runs and four hits in seven innings with two walks and two strikeouts.
