
CHICAGO, May 2 (UPI) -- Zach Duke pitched a five-hit shutout Tuesday to lead the Pittsburgh Pirates to an 8-0 victory over the Chicago Cubs.
Duke (2-2) walked just one, retiring 13 straight batters until two outs in the ninth. The left-hander improved to 4-0 lifetime against the Cubs, lowering his ERA to 0.56 in those four starts. It was his first career shutout.
Freddy Sanchez went 3-for-5 with three RBI and Jeromy Burnitz hit a two-run homer for the Pirates.
Todd Walker had two hits for the Cubs, who have dropped three of their last four games.
Jack Wilson followed with a base hit to plate another run and the floodgates opened. Wilson then stole second and scored with Chris Duffy on Sanchez's single for an eight-run advantage.
Angel Guzman (0-1) suffered the setback, despite striking out seven over 5 2/3 innings. The right-hander gave up six runs on six hits with three walks.
