MONTE CARLO, Monaco, April 23 (UPI) -- In a four-set final Sunday, Rafael Nadal beat Roger Federer, 6-2, 6-7 (2-7), 6-3, 7-6 (7-5), to win the Monaco Masters Series Tournament.

The win increased Nadal's record clay-court winning streak to 42 matches. Only Guillermo Vilas (53) and Bjorn Borg (46) are better.

It was the second time this year the 19-year-old Spaniard has beaten the Swiss-born Federer, a seven-time Grand Slam champion, in a final. Nadal was a 6-2, 6-4, 6-4, winner in the title match of the Dubai Tennis Championships on March 4.
