MLB: Detroit 6, Seattle 4

SEATTLE, April 23 (UPI) -- Craig Monroe hit a three-run homer Sunday to help the Detroit Tigers complete a three-game sweep of Seattle with 6-4 win.

Vance Wilson went 2-for-3 and scored once. and Curtis Granderson had two hits and a run scored for Detroit (12-7). The Tigers have a five-game winning streak.

Winning pitcher Justin Verlander (2-2) gave up a run and four hits in seven innings with two walks and three strikeouts.

Detroit has won 10 of its 12 road games to start the season.

Adrian Beltre had two hits and two RBI, and Ichiro Suzuki went 2-for-5 with a run scored for the Mariners (7-13), who have lost their last four games in a row.

Seattle starter and loser Felix Hernandez (0-3) surrendered three runs and six hits in seven innings with one walk and nine strikeouts.
