HUMBLE, Texas, April 22 (UPI) -- Stuart Appleby shot a 3-under 69 Saturday to build a two-stroke lead after three rounds of the Houston Open im Humble, Texas.
Appleby, who bogeyed Saturday's final hole, completed 54 holes at 14-under 202.
Mathias Gronberg posted a 5-under 67 to move into second place at 12-under 204. Bob Estes (66) and Jerry Smith (69) share third at 206. K.J. Choi (67) and Trevor Immelman (71) are in fifth place at 207.
Two-time defending champion Vijay Singh, who has won the Houston Open three times, struggled with six bogeys and a double-bogey in the third round. He did manage five birdies in a round of 75, but that dropped him into a tie for 51st at 215.
The second and third rounds were both completed Saturday after thunderstorms on Friday delayed action for more than two hours.
