EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J., April 20 (UPI) -- Jamal Crawford had 23 points and 11 assists Wednesday night as the New York Knicks beat New Jersey, 90-83.

With the victory, the Knicks, who snapped a five-game losing streak, finished 23-59 to avoid 60 losses for the season, which would have been a franchise record.

Crawford also had three assists and a blocked shot.

Eddy Curry added 18 points and three rebounds.

Coach Larry Brown was on the bench after missing three games because of a stomach ailment, but assistant Herb Williams coached most of the game.

Jacque Vaughn had 15 points and eight assists; Richard Jefferson had 13 points and four rebounds; and Zoran Planinic had 10 points and six for the Nets, who were without regulars Vince Carter, Nenad Krstic and Jason Kidd and ended the regular season with four losses in their last six outings.

New Jersey, the third seed in the Eastern Conference, will face Indiana in the first round.
