MLB: Detroit 4, Oakland 3

OAKLAND, Calif., April 20 (UPI) -- Curtis Granderson drew a bases-loaded walk in the top of the ninth inning Thursday as Detroit edged Oakland, 4-3.

Magglio Ordonez went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored. Carlos Guillen and Chris Shelton each knocked in a run for the Tigers (9-7), who won the final two games of the three-game set.

The winner was Fernando Rodney (1-0), who hurled two scoreless innings in relief.

Milton Bradley had two hits and an RBI, and Eric Chavez hit a run-scoring double for the Athletics (7-9), who have lost two straight and seven of their last nine games.

Oakland starter Barry Zito gave up one run and three hits in seven innings. He walked four and struck out three.

Losing pitcher Justin Duchscherer (0-1) was tagged for three runs in the ninth. Oakland's Nick Swisher had his career-best 10-game hitting streak come to an end.
