
SAVANNAH, Ga., April 19 (UPI) -- Larry Nelson and Henry Picard will be inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2006, it was announced Wednesday.
"Larry Nelson and Henry Picard are most deserving of this high honor," said PGA Tour Commissioner and Chairman of the World Golf Foundation Timothy Finchem.
Nelson, 58, won three major championships during his career -- the PGA Championship in 1981 and 1987 and the U.S. Open in 1983. Overall, he has 10 PGA Tour victories and 19 Champions Tour titles. far. As a member of three Ryder Cup teams, Nelson compiled a record of 9-3-1.
Picard, who died in 1997, amassed 26 PGA victories including the 1938 Masters Tournament and the 1939 PGA Championship.
Nelson will be inducted with Vijay Singh on Oct. 30. Picard will be recognized posthumously.
