DENVER, April 19 (UPI) -- Matt Holliday singled in Todd Helton with one out in the 11th inning, giving the Colorado Rockies a 3-2 victory over the San Diego Padres.
Holliday's single was just the sixth base hit of Tuesday's game for the Rockies and handed the loss to Jon Adkins (0-1). Colorado starter Josh Fogg allowed just one run over 6 1/3 innings but reliever David Cortes (1-0) collected the victory.
Helton opened the Rockies' 11th with a walk and took second on a fly out before Holliday delivered the game-winning hit.
San Diego got its run off Fogg in the fourth inning when Adrian Gonzalez singled in Josh Barfield but Colorado answered with single runs in the fourth and fifth innings on sacrifice flies from Holliday and Chris Barmes.
The Padres tied the score 2-2 in the eighth on a Mike Piazza double that drove in Barfield.
