NHL: New Jersey 4, Montreal 3

MONTREAL, April 18 (UPI) -- Brian Gionta had a pair of goals and Jamie Langenbrunner scored the game-winner with 2:23 left in the third period Tuesday as New Jersey beat Montreal, 4-3.

The New Jersey Devils rallied from a three-goal deficit to claim the Atlantic Division crown.

Patrik Elias had a goal and an assist while Martin Brodeur turned away 29 shots for New Jersey, which will take on the sixth-seeded New York Rangers in the first round of the playoffs in the Eastern Conference.

The Rangers had a chance to clinch the Atlantic with a win Tuesday, but lost to Ottawa, 5-1. Philadelphia beat the New York Islanders and finished with the same amount of points (101), but the Devils own the tiebreaker, dropping the Flyers to the fifth seed to take on Buffalo in the first round.
