
DETROIT, April 17 (UPI) -- Tomas Holmstrom scored the game-winning goal with less than a minute left to play Monday to give the Detroit Red Wings a 3-2 victory over the Dallas Stars.
Johan Franzen and Andreas Lilja also scored third-period goals and Manny Legace made 28 saves for the Red Wings, who have won eight straight games. Henrik Zetterberg added two assists for Detroit.
Jason Arnott had a goal and assist and Marty Turco stopped 29 shots for the Stars, who had a two-game winning streak snapped. Jere Lehtinen added a goal for Dallas.
Detroit, with 122 points, has won the Presidents' Trophy for having the NHL's best overall record. Dallas is second in the West with 111. Detroit will face Edmonton in the first round of the NHL playoff.
