
BALTIMORE, April 15 (UPI) -- Ramon Hernandez hit a home run in the bottom of the ninth Friday night as Baltimore beat the Los Angeles Angels, 6-5.
It was the Orioles' second straight win in the final inning.
The two teams combined to hit eight home runs.
Nick Markakis hit a two-run blast for the Orioles, who scored three runs in the top of the ninth inning against Tampa Bay on Thursday to win, 6-5. Jay Gibbons and David Newhan also hit solo homers; while Melvin Mora went 2-for-4 with an RBI. In relief, winning pitcher Tim Byrdak (1-0) threw just 1/3 of an inning.
Garret Anderson hit a two-run homer in the first inning; while Juan Rivera, Adam Kennedy and Jeff Mathis hit solo shots later for the Angels (5-5).
The loser was reliever Scot Shields (1-1), who gave up Hernandez' game-winning homer.
