LOS ANGELES, April 13 (UPI) -- Elton Brand scored a team-high 25 points Wednesday night as the Los Angeles Clippers beat hapless Portland, 97-93.
Brand also had five rebounds and five assists for the Clippers (45-33), who snapped a three-game losing streak.
Sam Cassell had 19 points and 10 assists; Chris Kaman added 14 points and 11 rebounds; while Cuttino Mobley had 13 points, three rebounds and three assists for the Clippers, who are one-half game behind Memphis in the battle for the Western Conference's No. 5 playoff seed. The Grizzlies beat Charlotte, 96-88.
Jarrett Jack had 20 points, three rebounds and seven assists; Viktor Khryapa had 14 points, six rebounds and four assists; while both Martell Webster and Theo Ratliff scored 11 points for the Trailblazers (21-57). Portland has lost its last four games in a row.
