MLB: NY Mets 7, Washington 1

WASHINGTON, April 11 (UPI) -- Brian Bannister yielded one run on three hits over seven innings in his second major-league start Tuesday as the New York Mets beat Washington, 7-1.

Paul Lo Duca was 3-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored; Jose Reyes had two hits including a triple, two RBI and a run scored; and David Wright got his 10th RBI of the season for the Mets, who have won four straight games.

Bannister (1-0) also went 2-for-2 with a double and a run scored.

Carlos Beltran had a two-run homer, Aaron Heilman pitched a scoreless eighth and Billy Wagner nailed down the win in the ninth for the Mets.

Alfonso Soriano homered or Washington's only run while Ramon Ortiz (0-2) gave up four runs on eight hits for the Nationals, who have lost five of their last six games.
