Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

NASHVILLE, April 8 (UPI) -- Martin Erat scored the game-winning goal in a shoot-out Saturday night as the Nashville Predators beat Chicago, 2-1.
Mark Eaton scored the lone regulation goal, Greg Johnson and Scott Hartnell had assists, and Chris Mason made 23 saves for the Predators (45-25-8), who clinched a spot in the Western Conference playoffs.
Nashville will make its second straight post-season appearance. It has 98 points has a four-point edge over Anaheim for the fourth spot in the West.
James Wisniewski had the only goal on assists by Mark Cullen and Mike Brown in the first period, and Craig Anderson stopped 42 shots for the Blackhawks (24-40-13), who have lost two in a row and four of their last five games.
