DETROIT, April 8 (UPI) -- Tomas Holmstrom scored the lone shoot-out goal Friday night as Detroit edged the Columbus Blue Jackets, 6-5.
Holmstrom added an assist in regulation; Kris Draper and Brendan Shanahan each had a goal and an assist; while goaltender Manny Legace stopped 18 shots for the Red Wings (53-15-8), who have a six-point lead over Ottawa and Carolina in the race for the Presidents' Trophy.

Rick Nash had his first career hat trick (3 goals); David Vyborny, Jason Chimera, Mark Hartigan, and Dan Fritsche added assists; while Marc Denis made 31 saves for Columbus (32-40-4), which had a six-game winning streak snapped.
