Kahne wins pole at Fort Worth

FORT WORTH, Texas, April 7 (UPI) -- Kasey Kahne won the pole Friday for Sunday's Samsung/Radio Shack 500 at the Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth.

His No.9 Evernham Motorsports Dodge circled the 1.5-mile oval in 28.374 seconds at 190.315 mph. It was his second pole win of the season and the eighth of his Nextel Cup career.

"It was a great run," Kahne said. "I knew with no mistakes this was a car that could run on the pole. I was pretty pumped up coming to the green and put together a good lap."

Starting on the front row with Kahne will be rookie J.J. Yeley (28.515 seconds), who held the top spot for most of the session. Mark Martin (28.567) and Jeff Green (28.569) will start in row two.

The race will occur on a track that has featured some of the cup's fastest speeds.
