Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

MILWAUKEE, April 4 (UPI) -- Damian Miller drove in three runs and Chris Capuano pitched six innings Tuesday as the Milwaukee Brewers beat the Pittsburgh Pirates, 7-5.
Capuano (1-0), who finished fourth in the National League with 18 wins last season, started this one because Brewers ace Ben Sheets is on the 15-day disabled list with a shoulder strain.
Capuano allowed two runs on five hits, struck out seven and did not allow a walk. Gabe Gross added a two-run homer for the Brewers.
Sean Casey and Jeromy Burnitz each had a two-run homer for the Pirates. Victor Santos (0-1), an ex-Brewer, started for Pittsburgh and allowed three runs on eight hits through 4 1/3 innings.
