Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

TAMPA, Fla., April 5 (UPI) -- Former New York ace Dwight Gooden faces more than a year in prison for violating his probation in Florida.
Gooden appeared in court in Tampa Wednesday on charges of violating his probation for fleeing and eluding police following an Aug. 22 traffic stop. As part of his probation deal, he had been prohibited from using drugs and alcohol. Last month, however, he told a probation officer he had used cocaine.
Gooden, 41, will receive credit for 93 days already served, court spokeswoman Pam Bondi said.
Gooden won the National League Cy Young Award in 1985 and had a career record 194-112 with a 3.51 ERA in 16 seasons with the New York Mets, New York Yankees, Cleveland Indians, Houston Astros and Tampa Bay Devil Rays.
