Mickelson wins BellSouth by 13 strokes

DULUTH, Ga., April 2 (UPI) -- Defending champion Phil Mickelson won the BellSouth Golf at Duluth, Ga., by 13 strokes Sunday over Jose Maria Olazabal and Zach Johnson.

Mickelson's score of 28-under-par 260 smashed the tournament record he set just last year. He won for the 14th time in 19 tries as the 54-hole leader and won the event for the third time.

Maria Olazabal (69), who lost in a playoff to Mickelson here in 2005, and Johnson (70) closed at 15-under 273. Johnson needed a birdie at 18.

Retief Goosen (66) and J.J. Henry (68) ended at 14-under 274. After his big win, Mickelson likely will be the favorite at the Masters, which begins Thursday at Augusta, Ga.
