Broadhurst maintains lead in Portugal

CASCAIS, Portugal, March 31 (UPI) -- England's Paul Broadhurst Friday maintained his lead at the Algarve Open de Portugal in Cascais, Portugal, by two strokes over Christian Cevaer of France.

Through 36 holes, Broadhurst -- the defending champion who equaled a course record with an 8-under 64 on Thursday -- is 11-under-par 133. Cevaer, who like Broadhurst, shot a 3-under 69 on Friday, sits at 9-under 135.

Christian Nilsson of Sweden carded a 1-under 71 and is third at 8-under 136. Sweden's Mattias Eliasson (70) is 7-under 137 with Finland's Jarmo Sandelin (70) in fourth place.

Five players share sixth place at 6-under 138. Among them is Paul Lawrie, the 1999 British Open champion, who shot a 70 Friday.

Lawrie is joined by Warren Abery (66), Gary Clark (67), Steven O'Hara (67) and Anthony Wall (67).

The cut line fell at even-par 144, with 76 players making it.
