UNIONDALE, N.Y., March 29 (UPI) -- Martin Straka had a hat trick Wednesday night to lead the New York Rangers to a 5-1 win over the New York Islanders.
It was the second time this season that Straka scored three goals in one game.
Jaromir Jagr had four assists, increasing his points total for the season to 113, breaking Jean Ratelle's mark of 109 for the most ever in a single campaign by a Ranger. That record had stood alone since the 1971-72 season.
Petr Prucha also scored a goal while goaltender Henrik Lundqvist made 18 saves for the Rangers (41-20-12), who have won two in a row following a three-game skid.
Alexei Yashin scored the loan goal on assists by Denis Grebeshkov and Robert Nilsson and goalie Rick DiPietro made 17 stops for the Islanders (33-34-5), who have lost three of their last four games.
With 94 points, the Rangers are four ahead of second-place Philadelphia.
