Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

CINCINNATI, March 24 (UPI) -- The University of Cincinnati Friday announced the hiring of former Murray State Coach Mick Cronin as the Bearcats' basketball coach.
Cronin, 34, served as assistant to the ousted Bob Huggins and succeeds Andy Kennedy, the interim coach, the Cincinnati Enquirer said.
Everybody got something, though. Kennedy left Cincinnati for a new job -- head coach at the University of Mississippi in his home state. And, Huggins was hired at Kansas State.
Cincinnati was eliminated Thursday from the National Invitation Tournament by South Carolina. The Bearcat hopes were dashed by a pre-game announcement that senior starters James White and Jihad Muhammad had been declared ineligible.
