Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24
HEMPSTEAD, N.Y., March 21 (UPI) -- New York Jets defensive end John Abraham was reportedly traded Tuesday to the Atlanta Falcons in a three-way trade that includes the Denver Broncos.
Newsday reported Atlanta gets the star defensive end by sending their first-round pick, No. 15 overall, to the Broncos, who in turn, sent their first-round selection, No. 29 overall, to the Jets.
The Falcons also will receive a third-round selection in the 2006 NFL Draft and a fourth round selection in 2007 from Denver to complete the deal.
Abraham, 27, is expected to sign a six-year contract with Atlanta.
The Jets placed the franchise tag on Abraham this season to restrict his movement and ensure they would receive some kind of compensation.
Abraham was a first-round selection in the 2000 NFL draft out of South Carolina. The 258-pounder has played in 73 career regular-season games, 63 starts. He posted 328 tackles along with 53.5 sacks and was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2001, 2002 and 2004.
