NHL: Vancouver 3, Columbus 2

COLUMBUS, Ohio, March 18 (UPI) -- Brendan Morrison scored the game-winner as the Vancouver Canucks got a desperately needed 3-2 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets Friday night.

Mattias Ohlund and Anson Carter scored for the Canucks, who snapped a five-game skid.

Alexander Auld stopped 22 shots in the win for Vancouver, which with 78 points moved into a tie for the sixth playoff spot in the Western Conference with Edmonton and now trails Calgary by four points for first place in the Northwest Division.

Ron Hainsey and Manny Malhotra netted goals for the Blue Jackets, who have dropped their last three games. Pascal Leclaire stopped 30 shots and had an assist in the loss.
