Norway's Aksel Svindal wins Super G

ARE, Sweden, March 16 (UPI) -- Norwegian Aksel Lund Svindal topped Austrian Hermann Maier by 0.09 of a second to win the World Cup Super-G season title at Are, Sweden.

Svindal trailed Maier by eight points before the final event.

Five-time Olympic gold medalist Lasse Kjus announced his retirement, saying he will take time to relax before embarking on the next chapter of his life, Aftenposten reported.
