SAN DIEGO, March 16 (UPI) -- A California winemaker and thoroughbred buyer is challenging what he calls a system of corruption in a lawsuit alleging his agents took bribes on deals.

Jess Jackson, owner of Kendall Jackson wines, is suing a number of horse agencies and farms, claiming he has lost millions of dollars in the fraud.

The suit was filed in San Diego last week, the Lexington (Ky.)Herald Leader reports.

It claims six men involved in the horse trade stole from him as part of more than $70 million dollars in deals he thought were legitimate.

He claims his agents made the purchases and prices above what the horses were worth and then received kickbacks.

Jackson said people have contacted him thanking him for challenging a corrupt horse trade racket.

Named in the suit are agents Emmanuel de Seroux, Brad Martin, Frederic Sauque, Fernando Diaz-Valdez and the late Mahmoud Fustok as well as trainer Bruce Headley.
