TAMPA, Fla., March 15 (UPI) -- Troubled former baseball star Dwight Gooden was held on a probation-violation for testing positive for cocaine, a report said Wednesday.
The 41-year-old former pitcher with the New York Yankees and Mets was tested for the drug Tuesday after reportedly volunteering to his probation officer that he used cocaine last Friday, the Tampa (Fla.) Tribune reported.
It was the seventh time Gooden was arrested by Hillsboro County, Fla., authorities since 2002.
In November, Gooden was sentenced to three years probation for fleeing police last August while free on bail on a charge that he struck his girlfriend.
Just before Gooden was sentenced, he spent 52 days in a drug-rehabilitation center.
Gooden was disciplined three times for using cocaine while in major league baseball.
