NHL: NY Islanders 6, New Jersey 1

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J., March 14 (UPI) -- Alexei Yashin scored twice Tuesday as the New York Islanders defeated the New Jersey Devils, 6-1.

Sean Bergenheim added a goal and two assists, Shawn Bates a goal and an assist and Jeff Tambellini his first NHL goal for New York, which has won four straight and six of its last seven games.

John Erskine scored his first goal of the season and Rick DiPietro made 16 saves for the Islanders.

Martin Brodeur allowed six goals and was pulled for the second consecutive game. The Devils have lost three of their last four games. Paul Martin scored the only goal for New Jersey.
