BEREA, Ohio, March 11 (UPI) -- The Cleveland Browns started the free agency period by signing center LeCharles Bentley, left tackle Kevin Shaffer and wide receiver Joe Jurevicius.
Bentley, a four-year veteran, was one of the top free agents on the market. The 6-foot-2, 313-pounder has been selected to the Pro Bowl twice since being drafted in the second round of the 2002 draft by the New Orleans Saints -- once as a center and the other as a guard.
Shaffer started all 16 games for the Atlanta Falcons last season. The 6-5, 290-pounder has four years of NFL experience.
Jurevicius spent last season with Seattle. He has played in three Super Bowls in his eight NFL seasons. He has went to Super Bowls with the New York Giants and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Jurevicius had 55 receptions for 694 yards and 10 touchdowns last season. He has 233 catches, 3,010 yards and 30 touchdowns for his career.
