
COLUMBUS, Ohio, March 9 (UPI) -- Rick Nash had a goal and an assist Thursday night to help the Columbus Blue Jackets beat the Phoenix Coyotes, 5-4.
Jan Hrdina, Nikolai Zherdev, Michael Rupp and Jason Chimera also scored goals; David Vyborny, Sergei Fedorov, Trevor Letowski, Jody Shelley, Manny Malhotra, and Jaroslav Balastik had assists; and goaltender Pascal Leclaire made 29 saves for the Blue Jackets (25-36-2), who won for only the second time in their last seven games.
Geoff Sanderson, Derek Morris, Mike Comrie and Dave Scatchard all scored once; Dennis Seidenberg, Shane Doan, Mike Ricci and Mike Johnson had assists; and goalie Curtis Joseph allowed five goals on 30 shots faced for the Coyotes (29-30-4), who lost for the second time in the last three games.
Phoenix out-shot Columbus, 33-30. On the power play, Phoenix went 1-for-5. The Blue Jackets were 1-for-7.
