NHL: Washington 6, Pittsburgh 2

WASHINGTON, March 8 (UPI) -- Alexander Ovechkin had a goal and two assists Wednesday night as Washington Capitals clipped the Pittsburgh Penguins, 6-3.

Ben Clymer had one goal and one assist, Chris Clark, Ivan Majesky, Dainius Zubrus and Matt Pettinger all scored once, Bryan Muir had three assists and goalie Olaf Kolzig made 22 saves for the Capitals (22-33-6), who have won two in a row.

Ryan Malone had one goal and one assist, John LeClair and Colby Armstrong scored the other two goals, Sidney Crosby, Cory Cross and Ric Jackman had assists and Sebastien Caron allowed five goals on the 41 shots faced for the Penguins (14-37-12), who have dropped four in a row.

The Penguins out-shot the Capitals, 42-25. On the power play, Washington went 2-for-10 while Pittsburgh was 0-for-5.

The last time the teams met on Feb. 11, the score was reversed.
