Knight reported upset over taunt

March 2, 2006 at 1:33 PM   |   Comments

WACO, Texas, March 2 (UPI) -- A Baylor University police officer had to restrain Texas Tech coach Bob Knight, who was taunted by a student, the Waco Tribune Herald reported.

The incident occurred Wednesday night when a student yelled at Knight as he was entering the tunnel to the locker room following the Red Raiders' 77-66 loss, the report said.

Knight reacted angrily and glared toward the student before the officer intervened.

Later Knight said: "Why does that even have any importance in a game? What is important about what somebody says to me at the end of the game when guys sat there and hollered and yelled and screamed names and all kinds of crap for 40 minutes?" the newspaper reported.
