VILLANOVA, Pa., Feb. 27 (UPI) -- Villanova senior guard Allen Ray suffered a mild sprain of his left knee during the second half of the No. 4 Wildcats' loss to No. 2 Connecticut on Sunday.

Ray underwent an MRI on Monday which revealed the extent of the injury. He is questionable for Wednesday's game against St. John's and is listed as day-to-day.

"When I saw (athletic trainer) Jeff (Pierce) walk into the office with an x-ray, I was preparing myself for the worst," said Villanova Coach Jay Wright. "But this turned out to be great news."

Ray's 18.9 points per game ranks second to Randy Foye (20.2) in scoring for the 22-3 Wildcats.
