Sunday's final gold medal went to Sweden, which produced an entertaining 3-2 victory over Finland in the hockey championship game. Finland was unbeaten coming into the gold medal contest.

The marathon of cross-country skiing had an amazing finish with the top three crossing the line in the span of nine-tenths of a second after traveling 50 kilometers. The race was won by Italy's Giorgio di Centa.

Russia, which collected only 13 medals in Salt Lake City, had 22 in Turin. Canada's 24 medals were an all-time record for that country. Germany won five fewer medals than it did in Salt Lake City, but with 29 still led the medal chart.

The closing ceremonies included the traditional invitation for the athletes to gather again in four years. The next Winter Olympics will be held in Vancouver.

When the Games were held in Calgary in 1988, there were 46 medal events. There were 84 medal events contested in and around Turin.

Kenseth wins race at Fontana

FONTANA, Calif., Feb. 26 (UPI) -- Matt Kenseth won Sunday's Auto Club 500 Nextel Cup at Fontana, Calif., crossing the finish line 0.338 seconds ahead of runner-up Jimmie Johnson.

Kenseth's victory completed a weekend sweep of NASCAR events for race car owner Jack Roush. Mark Martin won the Craftsman Truck Series race on Friday night and Greg Biffle won Saturday's Busch Series event.

Sunday's victory was Kenseth's first of the season and the 11th of his Nextel Cup career.

"Jack has done a great job with this organization and given us strong cars," Kenseth said after the race. "It showed again today (Sunday). Greg (Biffle) had the dominant car and I felt bad for him."

Carl Edwards, Casey Kahne and Jeff Burton rounded out the top five, with Jamie McMurray, Casey Mears, J.J. Yeley, Mark Martin and Kyle Busch finishing in spots 6-10.

Ogilvy had a 1-up lead after Sunday morning's first 18 holes and later extended the advantage to 2-up.

Love, the 1997 PGA Champion, came within 1-down on the 25th hole but never got any closer. He missed a chance to draw even, but could not sink a nine-foot putt that could have won the 10th hole in the afternoon.

Ogilvy earned $1.3 million for the win.

"It's such a hard tournament to believe you're going to keep going because you can run into someone playing well," he said. "You have to get a bit lucky. I got lucky the first four days, but in the last two games, I played really well."

Love became a two-time runner-up at this event.

Triplett wins PGA event at Tucson

TUCSON, Ariz., Feb. 26 (UPI) -- Kirk Triplett rallied to win the Chrysler Classic of Tucson, Ariz., Sunday.

He used two long birdie streaks, shot a 9-under 63 over the final 18 holes, and finished at 22-under 266, one shot better than Jerry Kelly.

Triplett opened the round with five consecutive birdies, bogeyed No. 7, and then made birdies from 14-17 to grab the lead. Kelly -- who made four birdies on the front nine and drained a 25-foot putt for birdie at 13 -- was the runner-up at 21-under 267.

Third-round leader Duffy Waldorf held the lead on the front nine, but made only one birdie at the par-five 10th, and then bogeyed 16 to end tied for third at 19-under 269 with 2004 champion Heath Slocum (68) and Bubba Watson (70).

Watson became the first player to go 72 holes without a bogey in a PGA event since Lee Trevino at the 1974 Greater New Orleans Open.

Jerry Pate wins Outback Pro-Am

LUTZ, Fla., Feb. 26 (UPI) -- Jerry Pate won the Outback Steakhouse Pro-Am at Lutz, Fla., by one shot Sunday over a trio of players at 11-under-par 202.

Pate, who had not won since the 1982 Players Championship, carded a closing 5-under 66 and finished with a birdie putt on 18.

"There's a lot of pressure on you when you haven't won in 24 years," said Pate, 52, who earned $240,000. "You put pressure on yourself. It's really hard to describe."

He beat Hale Irwin (68) -- who captured this event in 2005 -- second-round co-leader Mark James (68) and Morris Hatalsky (64) at 10-under 203. Irwin needed a birdie at 18 to tie, but, unlike Pate's putt, his 50-footer failed to find the hole.

Loren Roberts -- who was bidding to win his fourth consecutive event to start the season -- shot a 2-under 69 Sunday and tied for fifth with Tom Kite, Leonard Thompson, Des Smyth and Bruce Fleisher at 6-under 207.

Agassi to skip clay-court tennis events

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates, Feb. 26 (UPI) -- Andre Agassi announced Sunday he will skip the men's clay-court season to prepare for Wimbledon this summer.

"The clay has been pretty tough on my body over the last few years, and the last two years specifically," he said. "Unfortunately it's been the reason I wasn't ready for Wimbledon."

The 35-year-old Agassi has been hampered by a lower back strain for several months. The injury has limited him to only two tournaments since he was beaten by Roger Federer in the title match of the U.S. Open last September.

Agassi was scheduled to face Greg Rusedski on Monday in the first round of the Dubai Tennis Championships, where Federer is the top seed and defending champion.

He has 60 career singles titles, won seven Grand Slams and has earned more than $31 million.
