NEW YORK, Feb. 27 (UPI) -- Minnesota Timberwolves forward Kevin Garnett was fined $5,000 Monday by the NBA for throwing the ball into the stands Sunday during a win over Memphis.
"I'd like to apologize once again to the fan and his family involved in yesterday's incident at Target Center," Garnett said after being informed of the fine. "It was never my intention to injure anyone. I have the deepest respect for the fans of the NBA and the Minnesota Timberwolves."
With Minnesota leading 64-61 in the third quarter, Garnett was ejected at the 7:47 mark for tossing the ball into the stands and accidentally hitting the fan in the face after being called for an offensive foul.
Minnesota guard Ricky Davis was also fined $5,000 by the NBA for throwing a ball into the stands at the conclusion of Minnesota's overtime loss to Denver on Feb. 24.
