With golds on Saturday in the men's 15-kilometer biathlon and four-man bobsled, the Germans have 11 gold medals -- two more than the United States and Austria -- and 29 medals overall, four more than the second-place Americans.

Austria concluded its best Winter Games with a sweep of the men's slalom. Benjamin Raich led the way while Americans Bode Miller and Ted Ligety missed a gate in the first run. The United States won only two alpine medals in 10 events.

Claudia Pechstein of Germany could have become the first Winter Olympics athlete to win the same individual event in four straight Games, but she finished second to Canada's Clara Hughes by 1.01 seconds in the 5,000-meter speed skating race. Cindy Klassen finished third and thus won a medal in all five speed skating events.
