TURIN, Italy, Feb. 19 (UPI) -- Highlights from Sunday's action at the Winter Olympics:
-- The quarterfinalists were determined in the men's hockey tournament with the United States heading for a fourth-place finish in its group. Both Canada and Team USA lost for the second straight day while Finland and Slovakia stayed unbeaten. The Americans will meet Finland in Wednesday's quarterfinals.
-- Only three gold medal events were held as the women's super-giant slalom was postponed by heavy snow. Germany moved into a tie with the United States with seven golds each. The Germans now lead in overall medals with 18, one ahead of Norway.
-- The gold medalists were Andre Lange and Kevin Kuske of Germany in the two-man bobsled, Marianne Timmer of the Netherlands in women's 1,000-meter speed skating and the Italian men's 40-kilometer cross-country relay team.
-- No U.S. team has ever won a curling medal, but the U.S. men clinched a semifinal berth by downing Britain, 9-8.
-- An ice dancing showdown was set for Monday night between first-place Russians Tatiana Navka and Roman Kostomarov and second-place Americans Tanith Belbin and Benjamin Agosto.
